Anyone heard or tried this trick before?

If yes, what type of oil is to be used?

Sweet almond or olive oil or any other cold pressed seed oils.
Baby oil is not good as it's made from petrochemicals and not really ideal for a young child's skin.

Massage gently but firmly (IYSWIM) in a clockwise direction only.

My MIL does this. She just uses any cooking oil that comes to hand.

Sounds similar to normal baby massage, I did it with DS and used extra virgin olive oil.

As Brangelina says do it in a clockwise motion.

I used to do this as a nurse to our elderly patients. I was explaining to my mum what we did and used my brother a my model. He woke up the next morning to say he had a very busy night - it's very effective!!

It doesn't really matter as long as it is a safe oil, it's the rubbing that helps, not the oil.

I have also done it with elderly people, and it really seems to help. Better than constant laxatives that Gps will happily dish out, rather than taking a minute to explain about roughage to an elderly man who "Don't trust wimmin"!
