Anyone used Cranial Osteopathy to successfully treat colic?

We are considering this for our 3 week old DS who is in agony all day and night with trapped wind. Whilst he will pass wind from both ends, his tummy seems to be in permanent agony, he cries with a high pitched scream and the pains seem to come in waves coinciding with him drawing his legs right up and writhing in agony. I have had him at A&E twice in the last 2 days, they have told us it is definitely colic but all we can do it is more or less "ride it out" until about the 12 week mark, but we are keen to explore other options and would really appreciate hearing about any success stories

hi - how's is going? and which co did you use in north east? by ds is 4 weeks with v similar signss, really interested in your experience and how its going?x

Hi Kelbel, things are going well so far, DS2 has had 5 sessions with the osteopath, his neck has freed up a lot, but as that has happened, she has discovered his jaw is slightly out on one side and thinks it may have been compressed during the birth which means that we still have a few treatments to go. He is still colicky but is nowhere near as bad as he was (which was permanently bright red, grimacing and writhing in pain!). His sleep has improved immensely at night, he is settling really well about 7ish, waking for feeds and is usually only really unsettled from about 5am onwards which is a massive improvement on what was waking every hour during the night in agony. As well as adjusting DS, the osteopath has also shown us some really good winding techniques which have worked and also advised us to change DS dummy to one with a longer teat as the one he had wasn't reaching his soft palate so he wasn't getting much comfort from it. We have also found that he is soothed by white noise which helps during meltdowns! Whereabouts in the North East are you - we are going to a clinic in Sunderland, would defintiely recommend tham and would be happy to pass on the details if it is local to you. Please let me know how you get on - I really feel like the ostepath has helped my son and would recommend anyone with similar problems to see one. If I ever had another baby I would take them as soon as possible after they had been born regardless of the type of birth they had had (not that I am ever having another one after this experience )

hi firststeps, so glad to hear its going well for you. I actually live in sland so if you could pass on the details i would really appreciate - can i be cheeky and ask about cost too. I was actually going to ring round tomorrow but would much rather go on a recommendation.

Although we have not had a diagnosis yet I suspect my new born is also suffering from colic/reflux ? at the very least very bad wind. He also brings up his whole bottle of milk occasionally quite some time after he has had it. It has been suggested that a cranial osteopath might be helpful. Please can you let me know if you have seen a cranial osteopath that you recommend in London or Essex or suggest how I might find a good one? Many thanks.

Can someone indicate how much this costs, approximately?
I'm in Cornwall, if anyone knows of a local osteopath?
Have had about 3 hours sleep a night all week, and I am exhausted!
Tried Infacol, now trying Colief...not much improvement with either

Oh, gorgeous DD is 4 weeks old.

We found it great - our cranial osteopath anticipated that 3 sessions would do it, but the first was free, next 2x 30mins = £25 each. Treatment didn't necessarily last 30 mins though.
