My Lo has enlarged tonsils, they have become inflamed again and the doctor has prescribed antibiotics. Normally they don’t have white on them but they do this time around. I’m very concerned, doctor didn’t see him but asked about symptoms and prescribed the medication over the phone. I’ve attached a photo, although I’ve read this is food/milk deposit but just want reassurance. Tia x

What are you concerned about exactly? And why are you looking for reassurance from strangers on the internet rather than your trained GP?

BunnyRuddington · 11/02/2022 15:36

How is he in himself @Mumofoneandanotherontheway? Are you managing to get plenty of fluids into him and is his temperature coming down with calpol?

You have my sympathy as DS regularly had Tonsillitis until they were removed.

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 11/02/2022 16:24

Hi BunnyRuddington, he’s drinking fluids not so much food though. He thankfully hasn’t got a temperature but is complaining of pain when the calpol wears off. This is 3rd time he’s got tonsillitis since Aug 21. If you don’t mind me asking what age did he have them removed? Doctor is saying he needs to have tonsillitis atleast 7X before they think about referring him. It’s very frustrating because he’s in pain & not himself.

I really appreciate your reply, thank you x

DS actually got referred to have his vocal chords examined, SLT had made the referral. The Consultant took one look down his throat and immediately put him on the urgent list.

He'd had tonsillitis 3 times in 5 weeks and the GP still refused to refer.

BunnyRuddington · 11/02/2022 16:57

And if he's not eating much, try things like homemade lollies or ice cream. Weight was always a problem with my DS so anyway of getting more calories into him was a win.

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 12/02/2022 18:44

BunnyRuddington what was the reason for the vocal chord referral if you don’t mind me asking? My LO has a deep voice and is only 3.

Yes very deep voice as well. He had SLT and they were concerned about the quality of his voice. He played football at break and lunch at school with his friends and shouted a lot whilst he was doing it!

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 12/02/2022 19:34

Sorry what’s SLT BunnyRuddington? Yes he’s a screamer aswell. So a lot of shouting all the time at nursery & home. How old was your LO when he had them removed? How was he after having them removed? Actual removal process I find really worrying & the pain he has to go through.

Sorry SLT is Speech & Language Therapy.

He was a real shouter, we used to call him Yelly Tubby.

He was 7 when he has them out. It's not pleasant but the staff were lovely. I put him in bed with me at night so that I could keep an eye on him but ones he got over the operation, he absolutely thrived.

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 12/02/2022 20:22

This really makes me happy knowing he recovered well & is out of all that pain. I’ve just got off the phone from the out of hours gp who advised for me to push for a referral next week & also just to see how my LO was doing.
Thank you for all your advise, I may drop you a message when I know more if that’s okay.
All the best BunnyRuddington xx

Of course that's OK Smile

When we saw the Consultant she was actually quite cross that he he hadn't been referred before, initially with me but when I explained how I'd pushed fur a referral and the GP wouldn't do it, she was a lot nicer to me.
