7 year old getting really fussy about dinners

I had a quick search before posting but most seemed to be about toddlers or teenagers.

Our 7 year old has become increasingly picky at dinnertime about what she likes. To the point where she doesn't really like anything that isn't meatball, chips or nuggets/fishfingers, or sausage. She'll eat some veg which is a blessing but it's starting to impact on our meals as I really dont want to cook separate meals. She used to put away a roast which was always where i could get a good amount of veg into her but now she hates it.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same at this age and what approach helped? We've always been of the approach that she had to at least try something before refusing to eat but thinking she's at an age now (and no known ASD or SPD) where she could start to learn to put up with eating things she doesn't want to eat (but doesn't have an actual aversion to). My DH worries about how this could progress because his DB was super fussy as a child and it impacted on everyone's diet and on going out to eat.

Any tips please?

Have you tried the old trick of getting her involved with cooking? When DS was 7 we got an Usborne Cookbook abs I let him choose a recipe he liked the sound of and we cooked it together. We worked our way pretty much through the book and now, as a teen he's a fairly competent cook.

My DD is super fussy and is always more likely to eat something if she's helped with the cooking plus now she's good at cooking, if she doesn't like what's on offer she can cook herself something else or can even cook something she does like for all of us.

The library should have a good selection of children's cookbooks if she wants to choose one herself.
