Why did no-one tell me sleepovers were so EASY!

DS1 (10) had a friend to stay over for the first time ever last night, and it was so easy. No problems, no nightmares, no ridiculous late nights or early mornings, or noisiness.

Why haven't we done this before?

we love sleepovers in this house, usually much easier than a demanding only child.

Why do I get the impression theres going to be a rush of " OMG you are joking?" posts in a minute

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 29/12/2007 19:58

Oh I'm so pleased to read this, because on new years eve I've got 13 children sleeping at my house during my new years eve party.

I'm relieved to hear it will be easy.

twinsetandpearls · 29/12/2007 20:04

I think you may have a challege there slubbers, everyone knows with an odd number someon gets left out, make life easy and invite one more.

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 29/12/2007 20:08

hmmm, yes twinset, that is an interesting idea, stuff more kids in to help settle them. ha

One is a baby so that doesn't count (with odd numbers).

I'm planning a multiplex movie night upstairs so they can choose between a Disney Princess extraveganza or Shrek-a-thon.

Milliways · 29/12/2007 20:08

The noise levels DO increase if you have 5+ sleeping over

BUT, they are easy as they amuse themselves, dance, sing, make-up etc & giggle into the wee small hours.

roisin · 29/12/2007 20:13

I can't imagine doing 13
But I might try my two plus two guests next time. (Especially if they are then reciprocated!)

Dh got up at 8 because he was working. Ds1 and I didn't wake til 10 am. Guest said he woke at 8 am, but he stayed in bed and didn't stir What a polite child.

If ds2 were here we would certainly all be getting up a lot earlier though!

My abiding memory of sleepovers with my older kids (have yet to get there with the younger ones) was me begging a bunch of 12 year old boys to go to sleep at 3 am - by that stage I was almost sobbing. I couldn't look at them the next morning.

WendyWeber · 29/12/2007 20:23

ONE child doth not a sleepover make

roisin · 29/12/2007 21:29

Does it not Wendy! What is it then?
How many do you have to have for a sleepover?
And how many can you have and still retain peace and good order?

I had a really chilled sleepover for ds1's 11th birthay. ds, his 7 year old bro and 4 10 yr old friends. We had pizzas, watched a film and they were all asleep by midnight. They were really good in the morning - had asked them not to get up before 8 - trips to the loo and quiet chatting were fine. can't wait to do it again!

smartiejake · 30/12/2007 13:23

Most of ours have been ok but we had one nightmare with one of dd1s friends who sleep walks and gets night terrors when she is slightly under the weather.(Which no-one told us about!)
She kept us awake all night looking for spurious objects and throwing buckets of water over herself in the bathroom! Needless to say her mum was not answering the phone!
What a nightmare!

pinetreedog · 30/12/2007 13:37

i HATE SLEEPOVERS. (forgot about caps)

They get all crabby and pestering just before they finally get to sleep after midnight, wake up far too early and take days to recover. Where am I going wrong?
