Dd2 has just gone down for her afternoon nap she is 2.3yrs she said she wanted to go in the big bed so i've let her, i've turned the duvet round and tucked it under the matress both sides to try and stop her getting out and falling out, i've put another duvet on the floor incase she falls.

Is it too early to put her in a bed?

A friend's child broke her wrist climbing out of her cot and falling to the floor

I think if your dd has asked to go in the big bed she will be safer there than in her cot. I would invest a few ££ in a bed rail to be on the safe side.

We moved house when my ds was 2.1 years and we put him in a big bed then because it made sense too rather than put the cot up again! He had a soft bed rail down the side and a stairgate at the door to keep him in his room!

DD has been in a bed for a few months (she is also 2.3). She is in a toddler bed so lower to the ground. If she were in a normal sized bed I would put a bed guard there.

She is now in her cot because though she was ok for 10 mins she then realised she could egt out and then didnt want her nap which she still needs or is a nightmare later so i've put her back in her cot, I think I'll wait until she has given up on needing day time naps before i put her in a big bed?

DS1 went into a big bed (full size single - not cotbed) at 20 months. We did it on return from holiday so he had already had 2 weeks away from his normal cot. He had been waking himself several times a night rolling over banging against the sides.

He fell out twice but not on the first night. On one occasion he got out of bed in the middle of the night and stood watching me as I slept - it scared the willies out of me and because I shouted (I was truly frightened!) he ran back to bed and hasn't got out of bed at night again. We had a cot side thing to put on the side of the bed but it didn't fit so we never used one.

Good luck I am sure this is the right move!

We just started potty training so don't want too many battles at once really havent got the energy for returning her to bed 20 times and her being miserable from lack of afternoon sleep, im not that desperate for her to be in a bed she has only ever climbed out of her cot twice and that was ages ago and its still big enough for her to be comfortable.
