I know the first thing I should be doing is contacting our GP which I will be doing as soon as they open at 8am but I'm hoping there may be a parent on here whos child has gone through the same and what the outcome was.

DS is 12 months old and for the last couple of weeks has been having regular fits/seizures/spasms, I don't know what they are but he'll be crawling around or sat in his bum/knees and all of a sudden his eyes roll upwards towards the ceiling and his head starts rocking like he's nodding, we try calling him, clicking our fingers making noises etc but nothing brings him out of it, it only lasts 5-10 seconds then he's back to normal like nothings happened. They are getting more frequent to the point he does it at least 7-8 times a day. I'm worried about him and scared there's something massively wrong with him 😔

I'm not sure but it's definitely worth filming and speaking to the GP. Film it because you know there's zero possibility of him doing it in front of a HCP Thanks

I've tried filming but by the time I grab my phone and unlock it then put video on its all over with.

How did you get on with the GP?

Hi I’m sorry that your son is going through this. I haven’t had this experience with my children but I developed epilepsy aged 12. (I’m nearly 37 now with 2 children, a busy job and full driving license etc). I had “absences” which were similar to what your describing. I would black out for a few seconds and my arms would shake. I had a bumpy few years finding the right medication, but my epilepsy has been completely under control since I was 17. I’m not a doctor but if this is the diagnosis your son gets it isn’t the end of the world . It takes time to accept and learn to live with but there a fantastic medications out there and most epileptics lead normal lives. I hope he gets better soon and that you find out the cause of his seizures x

Thank you both. I spoke to the gp receptionist the other day and because he's otherwise fine in himself they made an appointment with the gp for this coming Monday. I am worried as I know that absence seizures in under 4s is very rare, i just hope they don't get worse as he gets older, fingers crossed it is something he grows out of.

If he does it again before Monday, I'd be tempted to ring 111.
