15 month old walking weird

I'm absolutely riddled with anxiety about my LO. To summaries, my son started 'crawling' just before 10 months. He's always crawled one leg tucked in, one leg up, which I believe is called asymmetrical crawling. Anyway I spoke to HV and she said she's never been concerned because he bares weight on his legs fine etc. also we have wood floor everywhere which will probably contribute to it. Fast forward to now, he's just gone 15 months and took his first steps Christmas Day at 14 months. It's 3 weeks later and he can do about 20 steps across the room to me. But what I've noticed is, he starts off toddling really well then the further he gets one leg seems to take bigger strides than the other and he basically starts to walk sideways the further away he gets. I'm now starting to get worried he's got some sort asymmetry from crawling like that for so long. He stands by himself fine, cruises great etc. I can't see any weakness in muscles from that sense.

Does anyone have any experience in this? Is he just finding his balance and it will sort itself when he's confidently walking? I did notice him do this a bit when he first started using a push along toy, but after a few weeks he walked normally. The same with holding my finger, both legs take strides exactly the same

My DD was the same - asymmetrical crawling from 10.5 months. First steps at 15 months, fully walking by 16 months but very oddly, same as you describe. I also was worried but she walks perfectly fine now (20 months). I think it’s just them trying to find their balance.

@Vicky1989x yeah he seems to have got his balance more this afternoon and barely did it, typical! Thank you though it's really reassuring xx
