what unusal names souvenir.

DD is Isobel Charlotte.

reckon you can guess mine

I knew what her name was going to be, at about 23 weeks pregnant. I was in hospital unwell, and I just knew. It was really odd... then when I told DH, he told me that his mum's middle name was Isobel and his granny was also isobel. he has the name charlotte in his family too... none of which i knew about.,

I love her name so much. She gets called Izzy alot, and Iz. also, DH calls her Grocel, (pronounced Grockal ) as when he first typed it into a text message, it came up as Grocel... for some reason it stuck with him calling her!

She is only 11 months, and responds to Isobel, izzy , Iz and Grockel. he also calls her Bab-bab which she turns round to... she is going to be one confused little lady soon!!!

christmascrackerboldy · 24/12/2007 00:00

fortyplus · 24/12/2007 00:03

LOL at RudolphtherednoseEANDHdeer being 'boring' old Jude. could've been worse - wasn't there a Beatles song about 'Lovely Rita meter maid'?

Twinklemegan · 24/12/2007 00:08

I'm not posting DS's name, but it means "little fiery one". I'm not sure whether we showed remarkable foresight in choosing an appropriate name, or whether the meaning has projected itself on his character. Ironically though, all three of his Christian names are after saints.

chocolatecoinmumofdj · 24/12/2007 00:09

I am Kristine with a K
not sure if i like it or not
I get called Krissy now ans my other half is Chris
my bf recently said my name was a hairdressers name

I think theyre nice strong names

But I have a soft spot for the name Daniel James I think it sounds lovely

wessexgirl · 24/12/2007 00:10

My name is very dull, but dd1's is quite unusual - don't know anyone with it. She likes it. Dd2's is biblical, so all my nun aunts loved it. She's too young to have an opinion yet though.

Twinklemegan · 24/12/2007 00:12

Oh, and my name's very unusual and no I don't like it. I hate being called by my name, partly due to low self esteem I think. I also hate that nobody can be arsed to spell it right and I get so many different versions I could produce a name book just for those.

eidsvold · 24/12/2007 06:37

twinkle - think I know your ds' name - it is one we chose as a possible if we had a ds - with the meaning.

not totally wrapped in my name but don't hate it either.

love the three dds - we spent days and months mulling over names and they all suit them. Don't want to post dd1's as that will make us instantly recognisable!

ninedragons · 24/12/2007 06:57

Mine is Sophie. I used to like it a lot more before the late 90s when the current wave of little Sophies began. At first I got really startled whenever I heard some hassled mum shriek "Sophie! Put that down!" when I was in the supermarket but by about 2003 I was used to it.

For that reason I am trying to come up with something for the bump that is relatively unusual and likely to remain so.

CharleeSawMummyKissingSanta · 24/12/2007 07:08

My name is Charlotte always been Charlee - i don't have any particular feelings although i qould have liked something a bit more girlie.

kidsx4 · 24/12/2007 07:55

Mine is Paula and i like it.
Lo's are
Ryan
Christopher
Summer
Buddy
No moaning yet but Christopher dosen't like his name shortened to Chris.

dandycandyjellybean · 24/12/2007 08:33

I'm Rebekah (no middle name), which I hated as a child, but kind of don't mind now, although dh tends to call me Reebs, Reebers, Cubby or 'keeper of the Atherstone two' (I'm well blessed in the bosom department!)

I have one lovely little boy, who was Archimedes all the time he was in my tum, and Jonah Gideon now. Dh wanted to call him Archimedes for real, Archie for short, but I bottled. Was quite keen on Noah for a while. Watching a 'Grand Designs' the other day and this guy who had been coppicing the same woodland for 15 years and living in a tent, built a wooden house (gorgeous) got married and had a little boy, and they called him Zed, which I absolutley love and wish I'd thought of.

ChippolataMinton · 24/12/2007 09:19

Dasher
Dancer
Prancer
Vixen
Comet Cupid
Donder
Blitzen

What's not to love?

dandycandyjellybean · 24/12/2007 22:54

.

LindzDelirium · 26/12/2007 21:37

dd is Jude, but sometimes at the doctors she gets called Jade, which winds me up. It's Jude, not short for Judy or Judith, and we're not Beatles fans, we just liked the name.

coby · 26/12/2007 21:59

DDs names (in alphabetical order are)

Arwen
Celebrian
Emily
Luthien
Megan
Poppy

any tolkien boffins reading this??

LoveAngelGabriel · 27/12/2007 10:01

I'm not divulging my name, but I also have an Elijah!

alexpolismum · 28/12/2007 13:34

Thanks, BibiJesus. I've been spending Christmas convincing dh to call the baby Eleri if it's a girl. He likes Sofia, so we've agreed to have it as a middle name. If it's a boy I want to call him Philip, but I can't think of a middle name to go with it.

My first son's name is Nikolas.

jaype · 28/12/2007 21:02

We have Thurston (probably not anyone's cup of tea, but that's why we like it) - it's very ancient - and my dp is a medieval studies teacher. His cousins are Aphra Oriel, then on the other side, Kate and Ned...

blushingm · 31/12/2007 21:24

I'm Alice which sorry but I've never really liked it. I can't get used to all these little alices around now, i always think someone is talking to me When I was growing up I wanted to be Sarah. My middle name is worse...Hilary after a newt!!!!! My brother ended up Jude and my sister meredith so it could be worse!!!!

DS is Ewan
DD is Erin - I'm the only one who complains!!

PS I also had a double barrelled surname before I got married so it was a real mouthful

alicet · 01/01/2008 21:49

I'm Alice which I love although I too think people are talking to me when they're talking to their lo's as I never knew any others growing up.

ds's are Sam and Adam. None of us have any middle names. Hope they like them - they're only 23 months and 3 months old!
