21 month old waking at 5am every am

Any tips or do they grow out of it?

I don't think anything particularly wakes him and he still has his 2hr nap during the day which he still needs as he's so grumpy without it. He also goes to bed 6.30/6.45 and settles really easily. He has been teathing a bit so could possibly be that.

Ds1 is doing exactly the same thing - 23mths. His second year molars are already through so for him it's not teething. The only thing I can thing of to do is put his bed time to 7.30 instead of 7 and try to cut his nap out.

Totally sympathise with "grumpy" comment but we're giving it a go because 5am is way too early and it's been happening for a month or so now.

Good luck

My 20mth was going through this so i changed his routine, he now only naps for 1-1.30 hours in the afternoon and he goes to bed at 7.30. He was a bit grumpy to start with but soon adapted.
Now he sleeps until 7 or 8 in the morning, which is fantastic at the weekends

Good luck

I should also say I've got a 6mth old who's still bf through the night. 5am is toooo early!

No, they don't grow out of it. My 8 year old wakes at 5am every day. Some people are just like that.

Doesn't really bother me. She gets up and plays quietly until the rest of us get up.

My 20 month old DD2 is a 6am-er and I am trying to stop it as am knackered. Am cutting her sleep to an hour max in the day. She goes to bed 7.30-8pm with her sister, who at 3.5 is so tired out by preschool she'd sleep 'til 9am.

You know, just when you think you've cracked something though it all starts over...teething etc. DD2 is out of nappies at night (what a star!) and just did two nights through til 7.15am when we had to wake herthen last night she wet the bed at 1am.....never ends!

We used Christopher Green's controlled crying when our 21m DS started doing this and it sorted it out within a week. We did try shortening/stopping his lunchtime nap but it didn't help at all. I know CC might not be your thing but just thought I'd throw it in there as another idea - you need all the help you can get on these freezing mornings...

Thanks krang will try control crying too.
