My DS still only has 12 at 24 months so I wouldn't worry about it just yet.
Think some are just much slower than others at producing them.

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 19/12/2007 19:39

thank you

he can still chomp through almost anything

ds2 is 18 months and has 8 teeth through completely (front 4 top n bottom) with 3 molars just breaking the surface. Ds1 was similar, maybe a bit quicker. The teeth thing is apparently hereditary though so I never class it as a "development" topic like walking/talking IYSWIM

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 19/12/2007 19:53

Snooks - that hereditary thing is interesting

hmmm ....

DD is very nearly 2 and has 8 now - the last 4 appeared within the last month.
Dentist said it was unusual but not to worry until 2, even then nothing they could do! I can see loads more coming though, so not wanted.
All she wants for christmas is a few more teeth!

fibernie · 19/12/2007 19:59

worried not wanted

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 19/12/2007 20:00

so, not unusual then

i think DS is teething again at the moment

last time he got any teeth was in September when he got all 3 of his molars at once

Maybe a bit unusual, but not abnormal!

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 19/12/2007 20:07

LOL - do you think i am being totally a bit neurotic then!

Ruby I've always been told it's hereditary but haven't seen it actually written anywhere.... DH's mum isn't around anymore to quiz but before she passed away she told me once that DH's sister didn't get teeth til 2-3. Likewise, my sister's 3 children got their teeth at times which is deemed "late" (can't remember when though). Hope your mind is put at rest

fibernie · 19/12/2007 20:10

Not at all... why do you think I know what the dentist said - got worried so phoned them to check!
MIL says that DH was 'late with everything' but can't remember teeth.
I think the hereditary thing is highly likely.

snooks · 19/12/2007 20:11

No I'm neurotic I would always get a tad annoyed when a fellow mum would boast of the amount of teeth their tot had through.... like it meant that the baby was some sort of teeth genius

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 19/12/2007 20:13

i am reassured thanks all

will ask my mum a few pertinent questions

(can't resist adding a toothy grin at this point )!
