Not meeting milestones at 9 months?

I have a little boy who is almost 9 months. He’s very active, and has been pulling himself up since 7 months, sits unaided, crawls, claps his hands, occasionally waves, laughs at his big sister lots but is very very quiet.
I know all babies develop at different rates but I’m concerned about how quiet he is. He doesn’t babble, only sometimes gargles and grunts. I make repetitive noises to him a lot (mamama, bababa, dadada..) but he doesn’t try to copy.
He doesn’t do a lot of interaction at all, ie if I say ‘where’s daddy’ he rarely looks at his daddy and if I ask ‘do you want a bottle’ he stares at me blankly. He recognises his name, so I don’t think it’s a hearing issue and he does make eye contact.
I guess I’m just worrying that he’s not developing correctly and after a bit of reassurance or advice. I am currently trying to get hold of the HV, but not sure what the score is there as I’ve not heard from them since he was born.
TIA xx

Hi Smile

Babbling isn't considered delayed until 10 months so still lots of time. The only receptive language expected at this stage is emergence of name response. The kind of examples you gave are expected more at a year. Sounds like he's been prioritising gross motor and communication skills will likely now follow. He sounds spot on. You could always do the Ages and Stages questionnaire to reassure yourself.
