5 month old not taking milk

Hoping I’ve added to the right board.
My little boy is 5 months old in a couple of weeks. He already has two teeth come through and it’s very obvious more are coming through. He’s also had a cold for the last two weeks.
I’m really worried as he’s not taking much of his milk during the day, he will have 2-4oz max of a 7oz bottle.
He will normally finish two 7oz bottles during the night (normally 1am and 3am) but when he wakes up he just doesn’t seem to want to take a bottle for most of the day. I try and spread the feed out over the hour but he just pushes the bottle away or starts chewing on the teat.

Basically I was wondering if anyone had any experience if this is normal? And also would this be a sign that he’s ready for some baby rice/ pouches?

If he carries on over the weekend I will be calling the doctor first thing on Monday. He also had his 16 week jabs yesterday so he’s also not been himself overnight and this morning.

Thank you in advance ♥️

If he’s taking 14oz overnight he probably just isn’t hungry in the morning, how much is he taking over a full 24hours? You could maybe try and reduce the amounts in the bottles overnight to encourage full feeds during the day, but as long as he’s happy and alert inbetween feeds and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies I wouldn’t worry. Definitely not a sign to start solids if anything this would reduce his milk intake further.

If he's had his jabs yesterday, I'd try him with a dose of calpol abs a dream feed tonight. He'll be gone in a couple of days Smile

I remember my DS did this around 4m and I was worried. Could even see a little dip on weight chart. But as he was 98th centile no-one was concerned (which was annoying actually - I've had this all the way through). He was also taking more at night than in the day. Never got to bottom of it but sorted itself out in the end. I also agree that going on to solids won't solve the issue in fact it might be a bad time as he may be more reluctant to try. Also it could be he's getting over the cold and just not as hungry. I've had this with now 3y old last couple of weeks.
