Hi,

What should I now be feeding my 9 month year old?

Feel i'm holding her back from eating anything but pureed food, as i'm scared she might choke.

Thankyou

nine month old i am assuming?

Start off with small soft lumps if you are worried. Or give her a banana to squish in her hands and see what she makes of that

She's still quite little so don't worry about pureeing her main meal but offer her a good selection of finger foods along side it or as snacks- a couple pieces of well cooked pasta, small slices of cheese, bread, peeled cucumber sticks, peas, sweetcorn, cooked carrots. You might find that most of it just gets gummed and spat out at first but just keep trying her with these type of things. If she manages them then you can start introducing other stuff. It can take a while for them to accept new foods so just persist and don't rush it!

Tallie i am new to the weaning process as well, and have just started blending the stuff less - if its soft like carrots etc they just squish it in their mouth or spit it out! Banana as suggested is a good one to try with lumps (just break down with fork or back of spoon) and its a good way of introducing lumps! feeding does take longer as pureers can be gulped down, but the lumpier bits take longer. I also give my dd some bits of grated cheese, small bits of bread and vegetables - often as i'm preparing the meal (to get the lumpy experience, but not worried about the quantities)

Thankyou for your tips, she is now sitting behind me with a selection of finger food and I feel heaps better.

I am having a horrible time trying to feed my 9 months old. He took well to the weaning process and was eating lot's of different things and even mashed up "parent" food sometimes. For about 5 weeks now he has refused to eat anythinh except pureed fruit, bread sticks, rusks and yoghurt. I can't get him to eat any meat and very litle veg. Have now once agin increased the milk feeds as worried he's not eating enough. I am trying not to get stressed but inevitably do and dread mealtimes. Any guidance would be welcome.

some of the organix snacks are excellent as they almsot melt in the mouth
the carrot sticks and tomato whirls for example
DS2 has always had toast crusts and chunks, but will also tolerate mush. ifm he ever chokes he simply coughs it up and spits it or chews it few more times and tries again

Def try finger foods, things like toast/bread are good as they go soggy
babies do not need teeth to chew either
