Dribbling toddler?

Don't know whether perhaps this should be on the 'molar' thread (!) but DS1 aged 2yrs 10m seems to be going through a phase of really bad dribbling at the moment (for about the last 3-4 weeks). I thought he had all his teeth now, and I can't see any new ones - could there be any other reasons for this?

I know of a few kids who dribbled well into their first year of school with no discernible cause!

I guess some kids just dribble - and not always due to teething. I know mine has done!
If it seems to be causing him no distress or discomfort, I would leave it a bit longer before having a word with your hv/doctor. My dd dribbled so much for a while that she developed a nasty sore patch to the right of her chin but it cleared up just as I was on the verge of seeing a doctor. When I mentioned it to my hv at the next routine check up, she seemed to think this is fairly normal and happens for a variety of reasons - if I remember correctly her advice was to get it checked out only if it becomes long term (over a month) or becomes sore as excessive saliva production could be a symptom of other problems (none of which she seemed to suggest were serious though!) Hope it goes away naturally without too much discomfort. Sorry about the rambling - little sleep last night
