Potty training advice!

DD’s nursery have suggested we start potty training her - she turned 2 in June. They’ve said they think she is ready, and I assume they know what they’re talking about given their experience, plus they will be cleaning up a lot of accidents if not so I assume they have no reason to push it on her too early.
Can I have some tips please? I think I understand how to do the first part, a few days indoors, putting them on the potty frequently, praising anything done in the potty, not making a big deal of accidents. Does that sound like basically it?

What I don’t get is the next part, when are they able to be taken out without a nappy? Do you take a potty with you everywhere? When can they manage a 20 min car ride reliably? What do you do if you’re on the bus and they announce they need a poo!
I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant with DC2, and really hoping for some nice nappy free months before starting all over again with a new born!
What are your top tips?

@SickAndTiredAgain
We followed the Oh Crap book with my 23 month old and it worked well. Sounds similar to what you describe. Id recommend naked from waist down first few days indoors.

After that, after a couple of days we did short walks around the block, very short car journeys etc. And gradually built it up. A month after potty training started we went on a 3 hour car trip (stopped two or three times for toilet breaks). We have a travel potty (potette plus) which is great for the early days where he couldn't hold it for long. It folds up small and fits in our changing bag. If they said that on the bus I'd get off at the next stop and let them try going on the travel potty.
Top tips would be get puppy pads for the car seat/pram seat to save washing if there's an accident. Also once you've taken the nappys away try not to be tempted to put them back on at all (apart from sleep). I think just going for it made it work for us. Accidents happen and everyone understands that so try not to worry too much. Just pack spare clothes!

I also used the oh crap method with my dd and she 'got it' instantly. My advice would be take the 'go hard or go home' approach. Once you decide it's happening then don't back down. She needs to know that it isn't optional. You might get more response on the potty training section on here. Good luck xx
