9 month old gone off food

Hi,

Just wondering if this is a normal thing for a 9 month old to do regarding his eating. He started on bang rice and porridge at 6 months and was fine with it really, took a little getting used to it but no real issues and as he's got a little older we've started him with finger food about a month or so ago. He was doing pretty well with pieces of carrots, cauliflower, strawberries, raspberries, sweet potato, broccoli etc etc. But over the last few days he's not wanted to eat them at all, pulling a face like he hates the taste and spits it out. Like I say he's had these foods and seemed to enjoy them.

Is it just a phase? Or is it that he's not keen on textures? He spat out the pasta out of his pasta and tomato sauce yesterday, he ate the sauce but wouldn't eat the pasta.

Anyone experienced this?

Thanks

Totally normal! Both my boys have done the same and I never know why. They come back to them eventually (or they end up like my 4 year old who will only eat about two things from each food group!) Even my health visitor predicted this would happen when I spoke to her when my first DS was 6 months and we were having a weaning conversation.

(It's not a sensory thing don't worry. Your lo is doing great given your update on your other thread).

Hi @Foreverbaffled thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned he's teething at the moment too with his top 2 front teeth, they're just popping through? Maybe has something to do with it!?!?

Just seemed really odd that he pulls this funny face like he's tasting the most disgusting thing imaginable 🤣

He has his 10 month review in October so hopefully that will help my anxious feeling.

Ohh may easily be teeth as well! My 9/10 month old has started doing the same with yoghurt when he used to love it. So predictable haha.

I hope the 10 month review goes well. I don't think we have one until 12 months which is good as my little one doesn't do that well on communication in the ASQ-10 month so hoping he catches up soon!

Thank you @Foreverbaffled hopefully will go well. My DS is the same but the appointment is 3 weeks time so things may change. Thanks for the reassurance. I'll update how things go. Smile
