I am Struggling with my 5 year old

Hi. My son isn't naughty or horrible or anything like that so I know we are very lucky. But im just wondering how I can help him.

Ds2 is 6 in January, year 1 at school. He adores his older brother Ds1 who is 9 and has Aspergers. Ds1 doesn't care for social relationships though. He isn't very responsive, he could go all day ignoring us just talking to himself and doing his own thing, even if we try to talk to him you usually have to say something a few times and even then he isnt really paying attention.

I have depression and anxiety. I get fatigue and pain too as I had a blood cancer diagnosis 3 years ago, thankfully I have been in remission since having A LOT of chemo and very high doses of radiotherapy...this was 3 years ago...but I seem to still tire more easily for my age (I'm only 29!). I'm also studying at uni to become a nurse. I don't work but this is because Ds1 won't go into any sort of childcare right now. So respite either isn't really an option because he would likely have a panic attack about being away from familiar surroundings.

Enough about Ds1 and me though. Ds2 is very 'switched on'. Every hour or so he will ask me or dad more than 10 questions about everything he sees or hears...I don't have the answers to everything obviously. I play with him, he is big on imaginary games, but he wants to play for hours.. I can only manage high energy play for 20 minutes at most..and there is a lot of 'no mummy you're not doing it right' and more and more questions bless him.

I thought school would be great for him but apparently at school he is quite shy and just wants to be at home. I even signed him up to some extra cirricular social and intellectual things like Beavers for January when he is 6 and gymnastics..but he doesn't like the idea of it and he even got upset when I suggested him trying it as he will meet so many nice people and learn a lot. I really wasn't expecting him to hate the idea of it so much so I'm thinking maybe I should cancel his places?? He only seems to want to copy what his big brother is into..but his big brother will only play with him when he feels like it.

Both boys dad lives at home with us, but he works full time being the only breadwinner.

Is there anything I can do to help Ds2's busy mind??
