My friend said I overfed my 14 month old toddler. She asked me one day what he had for the day. I told her at 8am had one weetabix for breakfast, then at 12 had some couscous with cheesy tomatoe sauce, then around 3 pm had one of those strawberry and apple ellas kitchen pouch, with 2/3 of petit flous and 2 apple rice cakes, then for dinner at 5pm had mash potatoes mixed with some spinach and red meat then a few orange bits after , then before bed time time which was around 9pm he had a banana porridge. He drinks alot of water during the day usually around 8-10 oz. He breastfeeds 4 times a day, morning , night and twice before his two naps.
This is an example of what hes eaten on that day but it changes everyday. My friend said hes eating too much and should only be having 3 meals with 2 snacks. I dont force feed him , it is up to him.
What do other mums think, im feeling awkward because my friend is the type of person within our group with the perfect baby knowledge. I didnt even think i was doing anything wrong

Motherofking · 15/08/2021 20:39

If your LO is happy and content and is following their centile, I really wouldn't worry.

Hi, it does sound a little bit too much. Mainly the snack seems quite heavy & then the porridge at 9. I would give my little girl a snack in the afternoon, just 1 of the things you mentioned, rather than the 3. & she was in bed for 7, so didn’t need anything else. Maybe ask a health professional? X

It does sound like a lot of food if I’m honest, particularly the porridge before bed as it means he’s having 4 meals and 2 snacks - the second snack also sounds very large.
The main thing is that your baby is content but you could speak to the HV if you wanted to talk it through with someone

I don’t think that’s too much and sounds well balanced. All babies/toddlers are different … mine all only had meals at that age (no separate milk feeds) and were in bed by 7pm. Trust your own instincts - he’s your baby and you know him best.
