I am really enjoying DDs first year and was wondering what delights lie ahead and which ones people are enjoying in particular!

dd is nearly 4 and i keep thinking 'oh this is the best stage'. generally things have been really great since the going to the loo by herself and talking instead of screaming stage started - something to look forward to.

Around 9months-18months.

So darn cute, crawling walking sitting playing smiling laughing adventurous, little bulges of baby podge around wrists, big cheeks - great!

DD2 is 15m atm and is totally gorge...

V.comical, cheeky, seems to be learning loads every day.

DD1 is nearly 4. She is lovely, too. I found the 2.5-3ish age quite hard going with her, but atm she is really good company and we have a lot of laughs.

All of them.

Pre DS I was really into babies and sort of lost interest in children after the baby/toddler stage. DS is now 6 and I have loved all of it. I love his sense of humour now.

Since they turned 1 I have thought that at nearly every stage

Now my eldest is nearly 7 I am seeing glimpses of the man that he will become and that is quite humbling. He is his own man.

I agree with the swedish goat (God, started to type scherere... and gave up).

I loved the baby cuddle stage, but was relieved when they started to sit up and eat alone. Makes it easier when you are out somewhere and you can give them a brezel instead of stopping everythign every 4 hours to feed. This is known in our house as the "brezel-phase"

Then they start to get more mobile and independant and you don't have to worry where to put them when you are out and need a wee. You just stand them up, propped against the wall.

Then they start to chat, and understand things. You can reason with them and sometimes they even do what you ask them to do.

At the moment I love that we can go out without a nappies, wipes, nappy sack, etc. And that we can sit in a restaurant and (sometimes) have a conversation with the whole family.

oops, went on a bit. sorry.

I've particularly enjoyed little babies, under about 1 year, and the 4-7 year old stage. Haven't got further than that but am rather looking forward to teenagers.

I could live without 2-3 year olds really. They are cute and all that but the screaming.... And the yelling... And the stropping... And the not walking....

DontCallMeBaby · 24/11/2007 22:02

I don't have much to go on yet, but so far liking 3 more than anything that went before. I'm a very verbal person, I'm not so good with non-speaking persons ... we still have inarticulate screaming from time to time (DD AND me) but not so much these days, and that suits me. But there's something nice about 3, they're still not quite 'of this world', just teetering on the edge.

Still waiting for it!!

notnowbernard · 24/11/2007 22:07

Love the newborn stage too.

Howdydoody · 24/11/2007 22:12

ooohh the newborn smell yum yum!

I love the age 3 - 4 when they are saying words wrong! So sweet, though i cant remember any at the moment.

Nemo2007 · 24/11/2007 22:14

All stages have pros and cons..or so far they do..love DS[4] where he makes up stories and babbles on constantly.
Love dd1[23m] how she talks to herself and is just so loving and love dd2[10m] been walking for a month and is sooo chatty as she gains confidence in herself. Also lov enewborn smell and innocence...so all of it

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 24/11/2007 22:19

I love 2 - 3 year olds. They are fab. They take in everything you say and your word is everything. You can have the most interesting and wonderful conversations with them, and then they say something so off topic, it just makes you laugh. Once they're at school, you loose that innosense. They're still lovely, but there's no outside influences when they're pre-school and its wonderful.

I've got a 12 year old atm, not over keen tbh!
