She was a bit of a monster yesterday and as punishment DH cut the teat off her dummy!

She went to bed last night with only 10 minutes of wimpering and slept right through til 6.30am this morning. She then went back to bed and promptly stuck her thumb in and dozed for another 15 minutes!

I know I know, the dummy should have gone AGES ago, but I was never ready to go through the tears and tantrums..... and yet with new baby due on monday, I guess now was as good a time as any!

YAY FOR DD1! Am off to Toys R Us to buy her a little present for being such a clever girl!

well done to dd, my dd is about same age as yours and finally got rid of her dummy in the summer (we'd got down to bedtimes only) but she was really horrible to dd2 so I frogmarched her outside andmade her put it in the dustbin and the following morning dustbin men came and she watched them collect bin, she never asked for it again just sometimes mentions it if dustbin lorry is around, strange isnt it how you dread it and they actually deal with it.

dd1 is weaning dd2 off her dummy as she keeps talking it out and telling her shes a big girl and doesnt need it (dd2 is only 10.5months so doesnt understand why it keeps dissapearing!!!!)

Good luck for dc3 hopefully wont be too long now

Monday that came around quickly!
good luck
(And well done DD)

Well done your dd1.

sometimes they just amaze us, don't they? I was dreading moving my dd1 form cot to bed (she's 3 as awell, and has ASD) but we bit the bullet on Sunday, and she has been absolutely fine.

All those weeks of worrying over nothing....

Each to their own and I'm glad she is Ok with it, but I would have thought a new baby arriving was a bit of a difficult time to take away her dummy?

In all our pics of ds1(4) and Ds2 (0) Ds1 has at least 2 dummies AND a bottle in the photo as if he was making a point...'there are TWO babies in this picture, dontcha know'

he isn't bothered now ds2 is almost 6 months old.

Jarm, we got rid off ds2's dummy at 3 years old, thought "thank god for that!!" then a few weeks later he found one at the back of his bed!! back to square 1!!!

have a good look around the house for stray dummies!! and all the best with the new baby!

YOu can't give the baby a dummy now though!

belgo · 23/11/2007 08:24

good point colditz, she'll probably want her dummy back when she sees her new brother/sister with one.

I personally don't have a problem with a three year old having a dummy at night.

JARM · 23/11/2007 09:08

no no no - baby isnt having a dummy, i am refusing. Im not going through another 3 years of hell with the dummy!!!

She hasnt even asked for it today so far, so we are doing well.....
