Baby carriers/wraps

Hi all!

This may seem a really silly question but I've read about 8 weeks baby should stop being swaddled so I do a lot of baby wearing in a wrap. Her favourite position is the hug hold and I was just wondering how long this was safe to do? And what age do I need to do forward facing/other positions etc? TIA! Smile

Hug hold is probably the most common position for babies to be in in the sling for the entire duration of their slinging lives! I've used/use slings a lot for mine and almost exclusively used hug hold in my stretchy wrap then in the soft structured carriers the hold is very similar, parenting-facing on the front. Heads in (obviously face to the side and uncovered so they can breathe!) when they didn't have head control then they let you know when they want to have their head out to look around! Same with legs, if you have them tucked in ATM. There's no need for babies/toddlers to forward face at all, in fact it's generally not advised, except for perhaps very short periods, even if your sling allows them to be in a frog-legged position facing forward, because they can't easily turn their heads away from stimulation if they get overwhelmed. When they're parent-facing they can always snuggle in to you and in a pram/buggy they have the sides of it to turn their face to.

Awh thank you so much for the info! Yeah her legs are tucked atm so I was worried with reading not to swaddle past 8 weeks if it was like the same kinda rule! I'm glad she can hug hold for the duration I never used wraps with my first and it's been a life saver this time round. I'm very much enjoying them close snuggles! Thank you again Grin
