He's delayed with speech and has lots of words but is only just (slowly) starting to put 2 words together. Only just starting. He's 3 and 3 months

He's under SALT and has Paedtrician appointment in 2 weeks but just wondered has anyone else had similar and how did it turn out

My daughter is 3 in October. Her speech is delayed. She says many words but not really sentences. However her physical development excelled from before 1 year old. You are doing that right thing, I may end up doing the same at some point. My mum said both me and my sister needed speech therapists and our speech come on very quickly after that. Sorry I can't be much help, I'd be interested to know how it goes for your son as my daughter's speech is delayed too xx

I will keep this thread posted or u are welcome to message me. I have read before that omega 3 is good for brain support so for about 3 months my son has been having the halibrorange liquid which contains this. Then today I read that a combination of omega 3 and vitamin b12 is good but halibrorange don't do one which contains both however Holland and Barrett do so I have invested they are chewable

Hi @leah1991 - really sorry if I’m poking my nose in but do you mean you’re not already on the waiting list for SALT?
My son is the same age and situation as your daughter and he has just had a first speech and language appointment after being on the waiting list for 6 months so might be worth getting a referral in progress if you think you’ll need it x

Yes I agree with the last poster that u should put your name on waiting list dot SALT as it can take ages and if u don't need it u can always cancel

You can never read too many books to them - and never have too many books for them to look through. That's advice I was given from a children's speech therapist. Sounds obvious but they say read, read, read to them as much as you can.

I do read as much as I can to him when he's not running around. He's very active

My one just turned 3 and speech is also quite far behind others. Having 2 languages probably doesn't help. Will ask for GP referral as quite worried with having to start school next year..
