High needs toddler

Hiii!

At what age did your high needs toddler calm down and start behaving better?

My almost 2 year old has always been high needs but more recently things he does are, not sitting at the table while eating, won't walk nicely and hold my hand, runs off/into the road, in shops picks everything up, won't walk down the stairs nicely, has no concept of danger and is fearless, throws things, does not listen or possibly doesn't understand right from wrong? Also not the best sleeper, I have to lie with him every night, won't self settle.

I am due to have another baby soon and I'm wondering when his behaviour will settle?

He is a clever, pleasant and beautiful little boy and some days is an absolute delight but is very much hard work other days.

Also wanted to know when to introduce naughty step? Would that help?

TIA

I think with boys you have to really exercise them, I know that can be difficult when you're PG but it really does help. Sunlight can also aid sleep as well so if you get him out, it might have a combined effect.

I think that you also have to be tough, if he won't hold your hand it's reins or buggy, no negotiation.

If he won't sit at the table, do you use a high chair?

My 2.5 years old is like this. All I have found works with him is really clear expectations so he knows the consequences every time. We don't use a naughty step (I doubt he'd stay on one!) but for instance, if he doesn't hold my hand while I walk to the playground with him, we go home. If he doesn't put his shoes on (after a countdown and warning), we don't go to soft play. I think he is starting to get it.
