High needs baby

Hi, has anyone on here had experience with a high needs baby?
My daughter is 4.5 months old and she is definitely high maintenance. I've been reading a few posts about it and some of the things I read worry me, lots of people talk about autism/ADHD amongst other things.
I would love to hear some other people's experience of having a high needs baby and how there personalities developed as they got older.

All babies have 'high needs'. Some of these phrases are coined by non-experts who make money selling books to anxious parents. Please don't worry about autism etc when your baby is only 4 months old.

What is it about her behaviour that makes you think she's harder work than other babies?

She's defenceless and totally dependent on a caregiver for literally all her needs. She SHOULD be high needs and she's relying on you to provide that comfort and security. The best thing you can do is give her what she needs. And please disregard anything you read that labels your child with ASD/ADD at this age as it's nothing but ridiculous. The more stressed out you get the more high needs she will be. Just enjoy her

My little boy is 4.5 months old and to be honest I’m convinced he has ADHD already! He is a terrible sleeper, very fidgety, easily overstimulated but at the same time needs to be constantly played with / entertained as we can’t leave him alone in his chair / gym for more than a few minutes. Isn’t rolling over regularly yet (he’s done it only a handful of times). It’s very hard! He was also born with low birth weight, so at risk for all sorts of issues, unfortunately. I hope not all high needs babies end up with diagnosis / behavioural issues, but I think the chances aren’t great (and from reading other posts, all kids with ADHD later on seem to be fussy babies…). Hope your little girl grows out of it though!

My second boy was so high needs but as a toddler and now a 3.5 year old he is an absolute joy. So able, fiercely independent and observant. He is a joy!

My daughter has ADHD and she was the most wonderful baby! 😂 She was so happy, didn't cry much, slept well, fed well.

Enjoy your baby, stay away from Google!

I know this thread is old now but for others reading, ignore those who say babies are supposed to be high needs.. that is from people who have never experienced the hell of a high needs baby. You’re not alone and you’re not a bad mum for struggling.
