18 month old won't walk on grass without shoes

Is it odd my 18 month old won't walk on grass without shoes.
Will avoid it, cry, or if forced with tip toe and lift his legs up like hopping one foot to another and scream and cry.
Should I be worried?

I know that young babies not liking to touch grass is 'a thing'. I remember seeing funny videos on youtube of lots of babies lifting their legs up and all sorts to avoid grass - funny and tried it with my DS (who actually wasn't bothered, but not much fazes that kid!). Not sure what the actual reason for it is, but if this is your only cause for concern I wouldn't panic!

I don't really have any other concerns. He was a late Walker but is now very confident and his competence is building slowly.

He's a very picky eater and frequently refuses all food for a whole day or more but he was an excellent and varied eater as a younger baby so putting this down to toddler behaviour rather well than an issue.

He can make lots of animal noises and can say plenty of words. He seems to want to start playing with / alongside other kids which is nice. Covid has been difficult for this but he is inquisitive so I think he'll catch up.

It's just taken me by surprise

He just doesn't like the feel of it... safer with shoes anyway as he could cut his foot on something small and Sharp

Aw he sounds like a lovely little boy OP, I wouldn't worry. Look up the Youtube videos, when you see it being made light of I think it will put your mind at ease. I also wouldn't worry about interacting with other kids yet - the world is very much still about them at this stage, playing with others doesnt properly come in until after 3ish I believe. Great that he's showing some interest already though!
