None, I had to follow ds round the house while holding pair of scissors and snipping as the opportunity arose!

nothing. Started by "pretend" cutting with hands and sounds, like many times, saying omg look how long it is. Time comes, promise its quick, distract and bribery and help from someone to hold him down after a while . Eventually managed to get him to the hairdresser but the deal is no electrical shavers and they have to be quick.

Is there some guy (with short hair) he really admires?...hint and bribe and take a picture to show how much he looks like his hero with short hair.

...there is also some ownership problems here...

I had this with mine .. his aunt is a hairdresser and we used to take him to see her so she could do it, but he would scream the place down and started to say how much he hated her. Many moons later we found a small hairdresser locally with a kids corner, lined with cuddly toys and a dvd player. Now, after 2 visits, he sits on my lap and watches a dvd while the poor hairdresser makes an attempt at cutting his hair whilst he wriggles around. It has been fantastic - no more tears! He wont wear a gown yet or sit on his own but it is certainly a start. Now all I need is to find a way to get him to have his hair washed!

Has he been told to stay away from scissors as they are sharp and dangerous? If so, no wonder he doesn't want his hair cut! We all do this, I am sure, and then wonder why they don't fancy a stranger wielding the things at their heads. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Chocolate helps to bribe by DD into the 'chair'

bodiddly · 16/11/2007 21:25

i agree with whynotmum .. chocolate and bribes of nice things to do after it is all over are a HUGE part of managing to get it done!
