Need help with destructive 2yo

Have a 2yo DD2 who is an absolute nightmare. She has just flooded bathroom after a day of whinging, stealing food, ripping up books, drawing on walls. I could go on and on and on. She is constantly destructive, will not accept 'no' and I am really beginning to hate her. Have tried all sorts over last 6 months, but she just never seems to learn. I know it is a stage most kids go through, but I am just at the end of my tether. I look at her and just see a bundle of trouble. Things had started to get better over the last few weeks, but we seem to be back to square one. DH works away all week, so don't really get any support. I need to change my attitude to her behaviour, but don't know how

ignore it, gate the house so they cant get up the stairs or in kitchens keep everything of value or breakable out of reach (and climbing reach). then when husband comes home get out with friend so you have breakand feel normal again. and try to focus on good behaviour, easier said than done when at end of tether and tired. have 2 ds of 2 and 3 so have had many days like that. hope this helps

Stairgates.

One on her bedroom
one on the kitchen door
one at the top of the stairs
one at the bottom of the stairs.

Shelves

at your eye level, for books, photos, ornaments (although tbh I'd box those up and stick them in the attic for the next 20 years), paints, make up, medicine and anything that will make a mark (pens etc)

The room she spends time in should contain robust furniture, her toys, and nothing else. Nothing breakable. nothing to destroy things with. nothing you will get upset about.

Then it doesn't matter if she is destructive if she has nothing to destroy!
