2yo DD going backward, using a fork at dinner. Should I be worried.

So DD used to use a fork and spoon no problem at all, but recetly she's taken to using her hands. At first I thought it was just at home and I thought it might be a sensory thing as she has started "playing" with her food more but it seems it now may be at nursery too. Is this something I should be concerned about? Also other than reminding her and making sure she eats with us is there anything else I should be doing?

My DD2 is 2.5 and eats beautifully at nursery so I'm told yet at home it's a horror show. Today she painted all up her arm with a cake and some icing! We just ignore and if she'd making too much of a mess we take whatever it is away.

Nothing to worry about, two year olds are just not that big on social graces! She's probably just discovered it's quicker/easier/more fun to eat with her hands.

This is very firmly in the category of things you'll look back on when she's 18 and think 'what in earth was I worried about?!'.

(You should only be concerned if you think she's actually lost the ability to use a fork i.e. can't hold it or has lost hand eye coordination, but I don't get that from your post.)

Thank you this is reassuring, she still eats fine with a spoon at her autines when she's being looked after there so deffo still knows how to use it! Her favourite game at the minute is to tip her juice all over her "play" table and play splashies with the juice Confused so I definitely think theres a big element of fun in there. Thank you for reassuring a worry wart of a mum!
