4 year old physical development

Hoping some of you with similar age DCs can help. DD is 4 at the end of May.

Had a chat with DD's nursery key worker about helping her get ready for school in September. We discussed her being shy (which is fine, it's how she is at the moment and limited opportunities for socialising outside nursery haven't helped). But her key worker also mentioned working on gross motor skills to help her confidence, which slightly baffled me as I think DD is ok in that area. She's small and slight, but can:

hop a few times on each leg
Skip (walking skipping rather than with a rope)
ride a scooter and a pedal bike without stabilisers
Climb well up rope nets, over walls, etc
Run pretty fast
Jump down from 60/70 cm height
Balance when walking along a wall
Jump and land at 180 degrees from where she started
Walk up adult stairs without holding banister, alternating feet (But will hold it on the way down)
Catch a big ball if you throw it to her
A forward roll

So my question really is: what can similarly aged children do that she can't? I mean, she's not massively daring, but to me she seems pretty average for a 4 year old. We take her to ballet and gymnastics classes and make sure she does a few hours of outdoor exercise each day, so she is fairly active.

The key worker didn't really elaborate abd isn't the most chatty of souls, so it would be helpful to have some benchmarking.

That does all sound pretty well on target. Have you actually clarified what she's demonstrating at nursery? Could she be being a lot more cautious there? My 3YO is very good physically but also lacks confidence a bit and I could see her not doing half the stuff she does with me at nursery tbh.

That's a fair point, she doesn't always like people to know she can do things, e.g.she can read quite well but would never do so at nursery.

She sounds perfectly fine and if anything a bit ahead with things. I would just focus on encouraging socialisation etc. What about a drama group or something or a more drama focussed dance school which will help with confidence? I honestly think she sounds great though and will do well at school. I'd take nursery's assessment with a pinch of salt xx

It sounds like her gross motor skills coming along wonderfully. And having lots of fun whilst developing 😁
