Babbling stopped

Hi,

My 4 month old DS has all of a sudden stopped babbling. He was doing it plenty up until a couple of weeks ago, lots of cooing, babbling blowing raspberries etc.. but now he's very quiet. Is this a normal thing to happen? Or should I be worried?

Thanks in advance.

Is he trying to roll over? My daughter done this, I even remember mentioning it to me husband then the next day she rolled over for the first time and was back to babbling all day long. I think maybe when they are trying to master a new skill all their attention goes to that.

Hi my nearly 5 month old has done the same but I'm not too worried as my first DS did exactly the same at this stage - basically went quiet whilst working heavily on his gross motor skills. He started babbling at 7 months out of nowhere so hoping that's the case with my new DS too. Try not to worry, they can only really work on one skill at a time.

That's really encouraging, thanks very much for your reply.

He's not rolling just yet but is wanting to sit up all the time so maybe it's that? He's also started teething already, this may have something to do with it. Thanks very much for replying.
