I love the temper tantrums

My DS is 18mths, and has just begun rocket like temper tantrums. Laying on the floor, screaming the hoolies, hitting me.

They happen anywhere we have a clash of opinion. Supermarket, bakery, grocers, park, playgroup, with friends, in the street.

If i get cross, flustered or impatient... they rocket further.

So, have decided to enjoy them. Stand back (enough for safety of myself but also my DS. Stay calm, watch the tutters and a crowd form around me. My life has become more enjoyable and DS reacts no differently than If I made a big fuss of had a big discussion.

What do you do?

DD has some fantastic melt downs. As long as she can't throw herself off anything or hit herself on anything I just let her get on with it for a few minutes. When she is ready she looks up, calls "Mummy", and holds her hands up for a cuddle.

Sometimes if I'm in a rush I just pick her up in a bear hug and let her temper tantrum in my arms until it stops.

I do find it so hard not to laugh at her though .

I DO laugh at her although I don't let her see that too often as we are trying the ignoring tactic.

DD is 16months and they are escalating, but generally quite entertaining. She runs on the spot and throws her head from side to side whilst trying to grab what she wants/hit the offending person who has denied her it.

Bless...

i do fine them funny and try to enjoy them but sometimes it's sooo hard!
like the first time he had one with me alone (DH was always around for the others) or when he had one during the night for no apparent reason.
