Has anyone's son grown out of ADHD behaviours at 4?

Just as per title really... he hums constantly, always on the go, can't concentrate, etc.

Do kids grow out of this and if so do you have an example of it??

Not quite sure what you are asking really.

ADHD is very rarely diagnosed before 6 or 7 or 8 because so much of what the symptoms are would actually describe a large % of toddler behaviour.

So many active children do settle down as they start school or Nursery, and are able to start other activities like swimming or sports classes and channel their energy, but for a child to be given an ADHD diagnosis later (or even as an adult) a lot of information about how they presented as a child will feed into that diagnosis.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant - if you had a child aged 4 who was really hyper and distractible and you thought they might have adhd - did they settle down? Just looking for some hope I guess

My own child does have ADHD. However, I am a teacher and have taught many 4 year olds (amongst other age groups). There have been quite a few children (predominantly boys) who have seemed very hyper, could not focus and tick a few ADHD Boxes at this stage in the school setting. Fast forward a year or two and they no longer do.

This is the reason they do not diagnose until around age 6. Inevitably, a lot of children will 'grow out' of their symptoms. Some, will not.

You can look up parenting a child with ADHD and find some strategies as it can be helpful in the here and now, whether they have a diagnosis or not.

Op my dd1 was very hyper at 4. Often in trouble at school.
It did get better.
However i still do think adhd /asd
Due to defiance
Lack of concentration on work (except reading).
It was truly a nightmare in lockdown with work

Dd2 is similar age nearly 6
Still wont stop on the pavement
Cries a lot

Both really struggle with friendship.
The other kids know dc are different.

Things like not being sensitive to classmate being overweight

So behaviour has improved but for mine it's not the same as other kids.
