Funny faces
Peek-boo
Tickle
Blow raspberries on belly/hand/neck/feet
That 'round and round the garden' where you trace circles on their palm then 'walk' fingers up arm and tickle armpit
Stupid dancing with made up songs

Basically, I found that the sillier I looked, the funnier he found it!

Emzy5 · 11/11/2007 11:14

eating carrot sticks and fake laughing works for mine

JeremyVile · 11/11/2007 11:15

Oh yes, definitely fake laughing.
The more am-dram the better!

bumbly · 11/11/2007 11:16

tried all those

Do you do the same things as your mil?

Could it be that you are doing the things but not relaxing enough because you're too preoccupied with his reaction?

I found with DS that he was well aware when I was going through the motions and at those times he really didn't respond.

I think if you ensure that you are having fun entertaining him then he is far more likely to find it fun too.

So, just try doing things that you will find humorous and see how that goes?

Emzy5 · 11/11/2007 11:25

also he likes to be made to jump so i kind of make a constant noise like:

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

then at some point go

zzzzzzzzzzzzzZAAAAH!

he jumps then laughs

mejon · 11/11/2007 14:32

Being tickled on the feet with DH's stubbly chin is guaranteed to get dd going!

jumpyjan · 11/11/2007 16:16

I think they find repetition funny and the anticipation of the same thing happening again if you see what I mean.

So if you make a face and a funny noise - then you get eye contact and they know you are going to do it again - DD giggles loads cus she knows whats coming. V cute.

pretending to be horrified when she takes her socks off

Mine laughs hysterically when I hurt myself. This doesn't happen too often luckily for me!

HonoriaGlossop · 11/11/2007 17:54

I used to make ds giggle as a baby by pretending to drop him He's clearly going to be into extreme sports or something! I used to cradle him and gently swing him in my arms singing rock-a-bye baby or some such thing, then I'd just loosen my grip a bit at the right moment and then 'catch' him again - he loved that feeling and used to giggle his head off.

Honest, I never actually DID drop him

Round and round the garden also worked for us - it's the anticipation!

TripleyTigger · 11/11/2007 17:56

I used to put a crayon under my noseand then pretend to sneeze and drop it,dd used to laugh so hard that she got the hiccups!!

DH used to put ds in the bath swim him up and down saying blub blub blub and he used to laugh really hard!!

OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MY KIDS?!!!!

horseymum · 11/11/2007 19:19

sneezing - both mine find that hilarious.

SlightlyMadStuffing · 11/11/2007 19:22

My DD3 used to find sneezing (or imitation sneezing) hilarious!!! I think it was the head movement.

SlightlyMadStuffing · 11/11/2007 19:23

X opsts!!!!

BroccoliSpears · 11/11/2007 19:24

Peepo with a scarf or a cushion.

Pretend to drop the baby, accompanied by commentry along the lines of "Oh LAWKS! What a clumsy mummy I am - I just DROPPED THE BABY!!!! Oh dear I did it again. I DROPPED THE BABY!!! Oh my goodness me..." repeat for ever and ever and ever...

Pretending to be shocked at things.

And tickling, of course.

Emzy5 · 13/11/2007 21:59

ooops sorry bumbly. maybe it's just my ds who likes life on the edge then

Emzy5 · 13/11/2007 22:01

what about little soft nibbles on his sides whilst making noises like a pig?

lol. so silly.

btw i agree with anyone who says repetition is the key. do the same game every day so he knows what to expect.

hunkermunker · 13/11/2007 22:01

Wearing a towel on my head after washing my hair.

Fake sneezing.

Fake being sick - which meant when DH was actually sick the other night, DS2 woke up to laugh at him...!

Tickling collarbones.

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2007 22:05

tickling
funny face
fake sneezing
mummy singing

policywonk · 13/11/2007 22:05

DP used to have a manual camera with a focus lens thingy that went in and out as he changed the focus (you can tell that I am highly trained, can't you). Anyway, we discovered by accident that DS1 found this COMPLETELY hilarious. Consequently, we have many marvellous photos of him laughing his little chops off, looking straight into the lens.

peacelily · 13/11/2007 22:09

My dd finds me running up the stairs whilst she looks thru the bannisters HILARIOUS, I find it exhausting but am compelled to do it because of her cute little laugh (I found this one out completely by accident, obviously she doesn't think it's funny when daddy does tho just me)

SpeccieSeccie · 13/11/2007 22:10

Lifting DS above my head and blowing on his tummy. Hilarious, apparently

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2007 22:13

yes stomach blowing - hehehe
