Placid newborn baby - sertraline?

My one week old baby is extremely placid. She's feeding and sleeping brilliantly and rarely cries.

This sounds like a dream but I took sertraline throughout my pregnancy and I'm worried sick that this has affected her in some way.

I'd read that placid babies can later show signs of autism and that taking sertraline increases the chances.

I'm not too sure what I'm looking for by posting but hoped for some advice or reassurance.

Thank you

What dose were you on? It is unlikely that the Sertraline has anything to do with your baby being a happy, placid baby.
Just enjoy it :-)

My babies have only ever cried when they were hungry (and had gone past feed time) or physically hurt.
Contrary to popular belief, a LOT of babies don’t cry for no reason! It’s very, very normal.

True. Mine was quite happy (until 6pm colic time). But she was also generally a very happy, smiley baby

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I increased from 50 to 100mg throughout my pregnancy.

Both of my children were incredibly placid babies. I have never taken any medication throughout pregnancy.

Interestingly, they were both absolutely hyperactive toddlers! 😂. Your time will come!

My baby was like this for the first few weeks but it changed, she became more of a crier for a while. I think a lot of newborns are just so new and shiny and sleepy to start with.

It depends what you mean by placid. If she really is feeding well and gaining weight then I wouldn’t worry. If she’s falling asleep too much then that can be a sign she’s poorly, it’s hard to say based on what you’ve described though.
