Hello sorry if this is a silly question.

My daughter is 3 in January 2022. She is currently at a child minders. A friend told me that my daughter is eligible to go to preschool near by the term after her third birthday, so this would be April. I appreciate it's a long way away and she ll change lots by then.

It's just that my child minder said that she usually has kids until they go into reception at 4 and feels they do better, but I think she would do better going to preschool then reception. I know it my choice but just wanted to ask for people's experience

Thanks

Your childminder wants the work, and assuming she does activities with her and has other children she'd probably be fine for a bit.

Personally I think preschool is better for a year before school. I see a childminder as a more homely experience, I know they follow the same guidelines, but most people wouldn't keep our kids home just with use before going to school. So maybe consider putting her in a preschool in September 2022 assuming your England. So your DD will go to school in September 2023 ( as she'll turn 5 in Jan 2024 ? ) It really depends on if you still need your childminder for wrap around care ? What type of preschool you want to pick ( school hours/ term time or nursery 9-6 type) Your childminder might not want to do the preschool run if you need them. Will you want to still use her for school collection? All these things have to be considered.

Oh and your childminder might take the 15 hours or even the 30 hours funding if you qualify, so do ask.
