Too much TV in lockdown for my 17 month old? Advice please

Hi, I've had my concerns for a while now but just want to reach out to other parents who could maybe give me some advice.. my son is 17 month old and doesn't really interact/communicate with me, doednt answer to his name (Especially while cartoons is on), still only babbles will say 'da da' 'ba ba' and 'mam mam' on odd occasion, he doesn't wave or point.. he's just about walking. The thing is he has watched ALOT of TV (please don't judge) with us being in the house alot with lockdown I found at the start Peppa and Hey Duggee really kept him occupied while I cooked or cleaned but maybe I'm thinking he's watched too much and it has affected his development so i can't help but feel guilty and worried that it's my fault. Anyone else has this issue?

Don't worry it's not the TV as a lot of words have been picked up from it by my DD 22 months. Im not a professional so I won't tell you what's right or wrong with baby but if you speak to health visitor they can reassure you. Deffo not because of TV or anything you've done though! Just remember toddler groups will be back soon hopefully and the TV thing has only been temporary.

Once the weather gets warmer and he can go places and meet people, it will be easier to restrict his screen time.

In my experience most 17mo are not talking etc and it will help his speech when he can chat with a bigger variety of people.

Be kind to yourself it isn't going to have harmed your child. But remember you are in control and can just turn the TV off.

17 months is a hard going age and even harder during lockdown I bet. But you just have to accept things, embrace your cupboards being constantly emptied out and put up with it.

It is highly unlikely that "too much TV" would impact on development in any meaningful way.

My 18 year old sounds very similar!.. I'm just trying to think she's basically been locked in the house most of her life.. she hasn't been exposed to well anything!! I reckon alot of kids of this age will be the same. That's what I keep telling myself 😂
