Hi, I have an appointment with GP/ have spoke with HV just wanted any advice / experience while I wait please . I have notice that my 12 week old son only looks to the right when placed on his back / sitting up. No matter what toy/stimuli is to his left he won’t turn his head. I know he can(when I hold him a certain way he has to).while he moves all 4 limbs with excitement , he will use his right arm to bat/grab at toys. But does not control his left one. I’m unsure if it’s vision or something like cerebral palsy. I didn’t notice a stronger side with my older son so am really worried and wondering if anyone has any experience ? Thank you x

It sounds like torticollis which is totally treatable. Have a quick Google. It can also cause asymmetry of reaching too :)

Thank you! I did have a look at that, however his head isn’t tilted. I hope it is something treatable like that though x

Hello! My son had this after a hideous birth. Took about four months for me to properly notice. I went to GP and they fobbed me off a bit but did refer me. In my instance it was torticollis, physio helped. I would ask for a referral. If you google it there are some stretches you do (holding shoulder down/ turning head gently) that I started before that definitely helped. I also saw a cranial osteopath for three sessions and that helped massively.

My son ended up having a scan of his soft spot and nothing was found. I think the doctor did this because I was beside myself! She assured me that if it was something such as CP movement in most instances would be extremely limited/ they wouldn’t be moving it much at all at this stage.

Take care of yourself. Lots of massage for baby on the arm/ shoulder. Make them aware of it. Don’t google that for me was torture 😊

Oh just to add my son is 20 months now, uses both arms equally, you would NEVER know there was anything amiss 😊

My ds had this, it was torticollis after a forceps delivery, it resolved with physio, the tilt wasnt so obvious either. Looking back at pictures and video now I wonder why we dudnt notice sooner, he was 8 weeks when diagnosed and diligent physio exercises at every nappy change fixed it within a fortnight
