Baby prefers to look one side, do I need to worry?

I have a 9 week old and he prefers to look to one side than the other, he does look at the other direction but not as long, do I need to be concerned? I do try to persuade him to look the other way ie. laying in baby gym, alternating ways of holding him, but not much luck.

With getting baby checked by specialist physio or cranial massage person (proper title?), Some babies strain the neck during birth or the skull plates can be pushed so that baby has a preference to one side, left to its own devices they might grow out of it, but it can cause long term things issues.
Don't panic but do consult someone for a physical assessment.

Worth not with!

My 10 week old is identical! The health visitor said to just try and reposition him a lot. My first son was the same and he grew out of it around the time he learnt to hold his head in midline (so 4 months ish) so I haven’t been too worried. As long as your baby can look both directions I wouldn’t worry too much.

My friends baby who had this was advised to do the tiger on a branch hold with the baby on the side that would make them turn the way they didn't want to as much, she also had cranial massage and the tension down the back of his neck from birth strain was very high, would have been causing headaches etc. It's unlikely to be very serious but still worth getting good advice ime

It's called infant torticollis. It should be checked out by your GP, because in rare instances it's associated with other problems, e.g. hip dysplasia. I wouldn't worry, but it should be ruled out.

Both my baby and friend's baby were the same at that age: by the 14 week mark, they'll have almost grown out of it!

One thing I did was turn him around in the crib so, at night, if he wanted to look at me, he had to use the less preferred side of his head
