6 month old not settlling to sleep

Our son would appear to have almost constant trapped wind which makes him writhe whenever he lies down. I've brought it up with the GP who recommended infacol, but this hasn't helped. I think he would sleep through the night but for waking with what I assume to be tummy pain, after which it's painstaking resettling him. I do all the obvious, winding, making sure he plays on his front etc etc. Anyone else have this, any recommendations? Really grateful for any feedback.

We have the same problem with our 12wk old. Infacol didn't help, I think it made it worse. Tonight we were so desperate DH forked out £10 for Colief from the chemist. DS2 is now peacefully asleep, dreamily parping to himself

Expensive, but worth it I feel!

My 7 month dd is full of wind. For the past month she's slept on her side and seems much better. She still wakes up loads but it's no longer to burp or fart.

7 months old!!! Oh good god, don't tell me it lasts that long

Have you started weaning yet? My little one who's normally a great sleeper has been suffering from constipation since she started solids and it been keeping her up at night. I went to doc who prescribed lactulose solution (grand name for liquid sugar, apparently!). It seems to do the trick. Otherwise you could try her lying on her tummy - this def. helps my DS sleep for longer - I know this isn't recommended any more but once bubs can hold their heads up and roll, I think its something they'll do naturally. Also, tummy massage and bicycle legs are good - but obviously not in middle of night! Fingers crossed you get a better night. xx

Thanks for all this - you always know that you're not alone with any scenario, but it's so helpful to get feedback! Side sleeping rules. Will also try Colief - hadn't come across that one. I guess we should be grateful that there's no crying or screaming linked to it, just the frustration for him of not being able to get comfy.

Washer - if the colief works speak to your HV because I've read somewhere you can get it on prescription (but could be wrong).

Indeed you can get it on prescription from doctor!
