Big fat proud mummy boast here: My DD (2.3) can draw faces

She draws faces with legs and arms and big round tummies, and calls them Daddy.

I hate mummies that boast but im so proud, she has speech delay but she is so obviously a genius

Well done LEMs DD (and obviously LEMs superior mothering skills ). My dd is 2.8 and still just draws random squiggles and says 'that's you mum'

Sounds like the next Picasso to me!

drosophila · 26/10/2007 13:01

so can mine but they look nothing remotely like a face . Sounds really good. Are you or daddy artistic?

boo64 · 26/10/2007 13:51

Well done LucyEllen - that's so nice!

We've chatted re the speech delay on other threads (how is she doing now) and my ds is slowish to talk too so I know how this makes progress in other areas extra special (feel free to humour ME LEM by asking about his special talents!)

TheEvilDediderata · 26/10/2007 13:59

Aw, well done to her

Ds drew his very first face yesterday, and he's nearly three!

lucyellensmum · 26/10/2007 14:43

Boo DD is doing much better with her speech now, has just gone through a speech spurt Still a bit behind i think but getting there So tell me, what are these special talents your bursting to tell me about

That's great news. Ds is now doing a bit more and definitely improving pronunciation - it's great to see progress. I'm sure he's still a bit behind the 'average' for his age but he's definitely talking more and making longer phrases etc.

Ah his special talents....well he can count up to four and sometimes five items (not just reciting as does it spontaneously e.g. 4 blocks or whatever without counting first) not sure if that's unusual at 2.3 but I think so? And he recognises nearly all the letters now.

But he wants to be a bin man when he grows up so even if he really is a genius it won't matter!!

boo64 · 26/10/2007 15:34

hey but he definitely can't draw faces...
I'm dead impressed that she can do that!

lucyellensmum · 26/10/2007 15:44

Boo thats great, my DD has just started showing an interest in numbers, i could get her to recite up to five, but now she only says, four for everything definately no recognition, just knows if there is more than one, then its four (whilst holding two fingers in the air )

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 26/10/2007 15:48

My dd is 3.4 and she can't do that!

Well done Lucy Ellen

boo64 · 26/10/2007 18:38

ooh I hope she isn't holding two fingers in the air in the naughty way LEM!

Ds started off saying two for everything in the same way she is saying four, so sounds like she will get it very soon too.

Maybe they are concentrating on other things than talking lol!

Actually I think that really is partly true with ds. My dh is a quiet, contemplative chap and I think ds is similar so he takes it in more but talks less.
Well that's what I tell myself when surrounded by super talkative toddlers and ds isn't saying much!!

lucyellensmum · 26/10/2007 18:51

one finger on each hand!!!

My DD is very into "making" and arty crafty things. PErhaps she is a secret genius like her mum
