Our dd would simply follow that person out of the room.

Maybe your ds is really taken with your mum at the moment?
Or he knows that you always come back quickly.

Usual mantra: It's just a phase

Probably because when other people leave the room, they sometimes don't come back for ages, but you always come back quickly. It's a good thing - he trusts you.

The reason he doesn't cry when you leave the room is because he is secure. That isn't to say children that do are problematically insecure but just your ds is already very settled as he knows you will be back - my dds were the same and that's what my mum said (she was a child expert) and the nursery teachers at school when neither of them did the whole crying at the school gates and hugging my legs thing - I was distraught at the time and felt that they obviously couldn't wait to be rid of me ......

that doesn't make sense though. we live with my mum so it's not like when she goes she doesn't come back for ages.

My dd does, she even cried when dp got out of the car to pay for the petrol at the petrol station.

She has been doted on since day 1, so not sure how she could have formed an insecure attachment!

nappyaddict · 25/10/2007 22:07

yes but that is to you and dp. my ds does it to everyone apart from me!
