Well...but I would assume he has grown in lenght...which is why his weight has dropped down in percentile, right....
it's really normal for a Toddler...they often are quite chubby as Baby's and then just grow in lenght...and walking more of the puppyfat off, so to say by being more active and possibly consuming less (but fully adequat) calories...(by dropping their milk ratio)....
If Baby's would continoue putting weight on as they do in the first year, they would be in trouble later

By the time you are 18 months old you have grown half your entire height, that is a mamouth amont of growing to do in such a short space of time - now it will take up to 19 years to grow the other half (we stop growing at around 21) Therefore Iwould not expect a child to grow or add weight the year after such growth.

Why do you way your child at all...lol...mine only have been weight when we went to HV or somehting like that...

Honestly it's completely normal...I assume your child is happy and healthy within himself...and you don't have any worries about him generally?

Pitchouette...sorry, wasn't having a go...!
If you are worried then go to the GP...as for those charts...a load of tosh in my personal opinion....but I think it depends on why a child was on a certain percentile...a lot of milkmonsters are sometimes overly high on the chart, not necessarily where they should be naturally (hope that makes sense)...so, if they drop down, after dropping milkfeeds and eating a varied healthy diet, then indeed the percentile they drop down to may well be the one they should be naturally on...!

I honestly think, it's best to look at teh child themselfs, and take their eating habits, etc...into consideration, and how much they are active and if teh child looks and acts healthy...generally there is nothing to worry about...but, like I said, if you are worried, then do go see a HV or GP....sometimes our gutinstincts tell us something that our logical mind may can't explain...

my dd is 5, and she seemed to stay the same weight from about age 2 1/2- 3 1/2. She got taller so I wasn't too bothered. Even now she has only put on 4lbs in the last year!

MeltingandScreamingIcarus · 21/10/2007 13:44

hmmm.
dd1 was a chubby baby 91st percentile for length and weight until I started solids.

She is now 3 and on the 75th line for height and the 50th for weight and has been like that for about 2 years.

She has been extra tired after starting pre school recently so i did take her to the gp who gave her a clean bill of health but humoured me and prescribed a multi vitamin and iron. Clear urine sample too.

I think in retrospect dd1 had silent reflux as a baby and feed all the time to sooth it.

Certainly when you look at her curve she actually started off on very similar centiles to the ones she has been on for ages.

Take him in and have a chatit is probably nothing but if you are concerned it is nice to have a professional tell you it is fine.

BTW, my ms has not put on any weight in the past couple of years, but has grown in lenght....he is still the same weight now (he will be 5 soon) that he was at 2 1/2...he is a bundle of energy and there simply is no chance for any fat to stick to him, I htink, lol!
My ys is still chubby, now, but not as chubby as he used to be...he hasn't put on any weight neither in the past 1 1/2 years...he has grown in lenght, still a shorty, lol...but hohum...I think with him it will most certianly be that he won't put on any weight the next few years, and will just grow in lenght , as he has still got some slimming down to do!

we were born to worry
They say everytime a Baby is born, so is a mother...like to extend that into....and a complete sane women will be laden with guilt and paranoia....

Btw...did you find out that your child didn't put any weight on via your own scale...just asking as those Homescales often aren't really that accurate...due to being moved about often, and well, tehy are just not as sensible equipement as professional scales are...so... and often they can't really notice changes under 1/2Ibs or a1Ib...etc...
