Baby Signers - which ones next?

DD is 13m and can sign - Hello and Bye Bye, Eat, Drink, All Gone, Finished and More. She throws food away then signs gone at me Today she signed Thank you as she said Ta so I know she has picked that one up now.

So what next? She learnt Milk but she did that once or twice but has given it up as she has BFs at set times now. What is easy for a 13m old to learn that we will find useful?

TIA!

Hot is a good one -- you can use it for warnings or when talking about food, etc. Nappy may be useful. DS picked up Biscuit quite early, which was a mixed blessing .

Names of animals? (Dog, Cat, Rabbit and so forth)

names for people e.g. mummy, daddy, granny etc.

DS is best at signing animals, his favourite is lion!

and at this age "change" becomes quite a handy one for many situations as it covers lots of things from boredom, to leaving the park, etc etc

hot, where, sorry & help( but she may not use them for ages) home & animals , vehicles. what ever she is interested in and you talk about.
Boy is 19m and uses ( let me think about this) hot, where, home, down, up, hat, glove, tractor, van, motorbike, bird, dog, milk, ta, biscuit, here, cake, star, pooh/wee, bye, more, monkey. and probadly more I can't think of just now , hes speaking a lot now so some signs are dropping away and some are used with speech.
Have fun.

Thanks! She actually says some words such as UP. So don't know if it worth teaching the sign as well. I think I will go with Hot and home. Anyone done Hurt? it seems a bit complicated to teach them but I think it would be useful.

I might do Granny and Grandad too, as she could sign to them when we see them at Christmas, her Granny would love that and could boast about it for years They go on about competitive Mums but you should meet her!

Hurt is a good one - my ds was practising it for ages but we weren't sure he meant it - then this morning he pinched me, I said 'ow that hurt mummy', and he looked contrite and did the 'hurt' sign at me so he definitely knows which word it is. And the time when he was doing it constantly was when he was brewing an ear infection so if we'd taken him seriously then we'd have realised what was coming! he's 14 mo

I'd be abit wary of trying to teach Names for the sake of pleaseing a realitive at christmas. might all back fire when she calls the cat grandma, unless its someone they see regulary it seems hard for most tots to file names correctly.
We have only just twigged that when he signs Home, boy is thinking of the outside of the house. so he also signs home when he is home & wants to go outside.
