My daughter is 2 1/2 and has fractured her leg and is in a cast. I have read all the practical advice about taking care of the cast. what I really want is any advice or tips from anyone who has had this experience. How do I make things easier for her. She hates not being able to move around. Is there any kind of walkers to help? Should I sleep in her room? What if she wakes and tries to get up? She often comes into my bed at night. Please help if you have experience of this what things did you do to make this experience easier on your child?

No experience sorry but I'd ask in Chat, you may get a few more responses Smile

We had the same thing happen to our 3 year old, it wasn’t actually as bad as I feared it would be... they tend to cope with it surprisingly well after a few days, I think you’ll be surprised at how quickly they adapt and are walking around the house...
the only thing I’d really recommend is one of those water proof cast socks so she can still have a bath etc..
Also I’d probably co sleep with her if I were you, it’s not really any different to her coming in during the night anyway, just takes the stress away doesn’t it..

Sorry this is a late reply but in case it helps, I had the same situation with my daughter (then 2.10) in March. I found it helpful to encourage her to bum shuffle etc and stay as active as possible. We did a lot of playing with a train set and cars which encouraged this. Once she could put weight on it, we helped her to do this a little each day. She healed up very quickly. Once it was healed we did a bit of riding her balance bike gently to get her active again without putting too much pressure on it. DM me if it would help. Hope she gets better soon. x
