Hi Guys,

I was just wondering with the last few months a lot of kids were home schooled due to COVID and in the near future this could very much be the norm!

How do you think that will impact a child's ability to socialise?

I remember in my school days I used to love playing sports and running around with my friends and also lets not forget prom as well.

But if there is a transition to a fully online method of education what long lasting impact will that have for the children?

Depends how you look at it, you can still arrange for your child to attend sporting clubs and make friends. The friends part you may need to help them with by doing play dates with other parents etc but I guess it's the same with any aspect of their development.

FinchyBob,

Totally agree I remember when I was expecting in my prenatal classes I made friends with all the mothers and we kept in touch and our children got on. However I feel if they are not constantly around children their own age or interacting with them they may lose some social skills and become shy or to reliant on screens.

The COVID‑19 pandemic is harming health, social and material well-being of children worldwide, with the poorest children, including homeless children and children in detention, hit hardest.
