Toddler Diarrhoea HELP!!!!!!

Hi

We are currently toilet training my three year old son who is finally showing an interest in getting out of nappies. He is dry all night every night and is doing "No 1's" on the toilet frequently. The problem we have is that he doesn't sense he needs a poo and when it comes boy does it! His diet is in our opinion very healthy and having seen the doctor she has said it is toddler diarrhoea and to increase the fibre and fat in his diet.

We have done this and have also vastly reduced the amount of juice and squash but there doesn't seem to be any progress. We insisted a sample of his poo be tested which it was and is normal but every poo he does is like a river. The transit time from mouth to exit is not very long.

He is vibrant happy and full of life but as long as this continues toilet training is almost impossible. Can anyone help with any proven methods of help??? I'm running out of ideas or is it just a waiting game??

my ds was like that after a couple of yrs he referred to hosp and all tests came back fine. In the end I was so fed up of it I paid for him to have allegy test done at local health food shop and it came up that he was intolerant to wheat, even though they tested him for that at the hosp. So we cut out wheat and he is fine now.

my Ds had this for months. in the end a DR told me to give him as many glasses of flat cola as we could get inside him.

within two days he was fine.

i dont know whyor how it works but it seems to. its my first attempt at curing it now and would reccommend it to anyone to at least try it

Ds2 was like that for ages, finally in desperation stopped giving him dairy last xmas when he was 3.5(we have a strong history of mild lactose intolerance, but no one in my inmmediate family avoid dairy, they just don't overdo it)It took a while for his bowel to work properly and for him to get awareness (8mths) but at 4 and a bit he's toilet trained -hooray!

My story is exactly the same as orangehead. Diagnosed with toddler diarrhoea didn't believe it went to health food shop was tested and intolerant to wheat! Cutting out the wheat solved it.
