My dd1 who is 4 1/2 is obsessed with having the doors closed. It is driving me mad. It isn't just doors, but wardrobe doors and the drawers in the chest of drawers.

This has only started in the last month.

Is this obsessive behaviour normal?

She also gets very peed off if something isn't straight/lined up correctly.

I wish mine were like that. DD insists on having her door open at night, and wakes up in the night to open it if we shut it, and DS1 never shuts his drawers. I keep telling him there will be an accident if someone falls against them. Your DD is being safety conscious!

Haven't had personal experience of this, but would say it's quite normal. Ignore it or play it down.

My ds would run back and straighten a wonky tea towel, even if he was being persued at top speed by his sister. Even now he is very obsessive, velcro on shoes has to be symmetrical etc.

NAB3, pmsl! Perhaps I should look at it in a more positive light! I just worry she is becoming a bit anal! I am anal about cleanliness/hygiene, but actually hate closed doors as makes me feel quite claustrophobic!

My dd2 (7) makes me shut any open doors in her room and when I shut her bedroom door, she gets out of bed and checks that it is shut properly.
