cries at toys- is this normal?

DD keeps crying at toys.
I will give her something to play with and then after a few minutes you can see that shes losing her temper with them, she'll start heavy breathing and will eventually cry with frustration and start throwing it about etc.. The only way to calm her down is to take it away. She does it no matter what I give her.
Is this normal shes only 20 weeks and I cant work out why the frustration.

Probably tiredness due to over stimulation. My dd gets like that. Also teething causes frustration if she cant get the toy in her mouth to relieve the pain. But all babies are different.

What kind of toys are they kbaby? Are they things that are too complicated for her?

Honey, don't worry too much. I honestly have concluded that most toys that say 'from birth' mean nothing of the kind. I can't remember when my two got into toys, but I know that for ages the thing that worked with DD1, certainly, was to lie vaguely under a babygym occasionally trying to biff something. Really. She is now a bright, funny, articulate three year old. Who STILL occasionally plays with a 'from birth' toy.

would agree with amai, kbaby. bless.

kbaby I think dd didn't really start to play properly with toys until she could sit up on her own which was about 6 months I think. Before that she'd only ever want to handle fairly simple things for a short time. I think the frustration is because the object has potential to do something that maybe your dd doesn't have the skills or the patience to realise. This happens all the way through early childhood, my dd at 2 still gets incredibly frustrated when she can't do things like put on her shoes, do up buttons, and also when she's trying to tell me something she doesn't quite have the words for yet.

Yes very normal. I second what Amai says.

Thanks everyone. It could be what amai said about being tired and overstimmulated as sometimes shes fine and will play for ages and others she cries. So it could be that shes tired and fed up with them. Poor thing and theres me giving her something else thinking she was bored with it.

She has always been very interested in toys and likes to hold things and put them in her mouth. She loved her play gym when she was little and learnt to hold out and grab things at quite a early age. TBH they are my saving grace when im trying to clean etc as I can put her in the bouncy chair and give her a few plastic cups to hold or Teething rings/rattles or soft toys and they normally keep her occupied for a bit. It was just starnge how sometimes she just cried at them. What Amai has said does make sense.
