Hi,

I’m SO missing baby groups and the opportunity to speak to other Mums. Our LO is 8w on Monday and had suddenly started refusing to sleep in his crib at all. He was previously going down with white noise and a dummy in a dark room - but now we can only get him to sleep in a sling. I’m assuming this is down to the Wonder week which is due to hit now.

I’m concerned that two weeks of settling him to sleep In a sling is going to mean he won’t go back to his crib after the leap. Has anyone else introduced new settling habits to survive a wonder week and been able to revert to normal practice once it passes?

He's only tiny and it's very normal for a baby to not settle well in a crib, especially during the 4th trimester

Do remember as well that babies should be in same room as you for all sleep until at least 6 mo for SIDS prevention.

Don't put too much faith in timings etc from wonder weeks either. It doesn't seem to apply to all babies for some reason

Thanks @Harrysmummy246 - yes, he always sleeps in the same room as us, whether it’s in the bassinet, box or next to me crib. It’s strange as he’s been very content on his own until now - but I have to say he settles very quickly in the sling so I can see how being close to me helps.

I’ve been having the WW debate with my partner and you’re right, I can see that it might not be accurate 100% the time. That said, baby’s behaviour did a 180 two days ago so it’s coincidental timing if not a WW. I just hope he doesn’t need to be swayed to sleep forever more!

He's still only 8 weeks old, you can't make any assumptions on what is normal yet.

And if you haven't read up on sleep regression, might be worth doing so. Baby sleep can and often does get worse
